Pilates Bootcamp
The Pilates Bootcamp is a low impact resistance workout that covers various Pilates exercises. There will be some cardio components added to the program. The workouts are no longer than 30 minutes.
I created Pilates Bootcamp class in response to students wanting to dive into mat Pilates and receive a cardio workout. My background originally began with the following workout program consisting of long distance running, interval training, squash, and Muay Thai kickboxing. These are all intense cardiovascular workouts that are not sustainable. I replaced my former workout program with Pilates and modified my 20 years of professional cardiovascular training to seamlessly create a workout program that has its roots in Pilates.
Why did I do this? Because even though we are physically able to walk, jump, hop, skip, and run, we are typically core weak. Our muscles will engage to do what is asked of it even though the muscle is weak or ill prepared to do the task. So when a person tries a new bootcamp workout program (typically around the new year), the program is intensive and high impact and NOT sustainable because the bootcamp begins with cardiovascular intensive movements BEFORE working on our body's need for stabilization and strength for all our muscles and not just our big muscle groups. This typical bootcamp approach of high intensity cardiovascular exercises leaves our stabilizers overworked and weak. And without core strength, strong muscle stabilization preparation introduced FIRST, you set yourself up for failure.
This is why I created the Pilates Beginners Bootcamp.
